About this deal

I would however protect your frame, I used some insulating tape, as if a tiny bit of grit gets under the clamp it may remove some paint. The straps are made from ultra-tough TPU and should be pulled as tight as you can comfortably do by hand. The clamp can be mounted and removed in seconds enabling quick swaps between bikes making the guard very versatile. Admittedly, I don’t love the idea or look of (what is essentially) a sophisticated plastic fender and mount, and I was at-first dubious if the juice would be worth the aesthetic-compromising squeeze after receiving a Win Wing to review. I ride in a club which doesn't have a mudguard policy, a lot ride their race bikes all year and traditionally those bikes couldn't fit full guards (although I concede that there seems to be a mudguard to fit everybike nowadays) however a faceful of road muck once or twice a week on a training ride is our accepted norm, indeed sometimes weirdly enjoyable.

The result is a fork mounted front mudguard with an unobtrusive design and unsurpassed efficiency when it comes to keeping your face free from dirt. There are three in the front-center of the blade that are used to insert the peg at the top of the arc. Shroom Astro light set comes with a pair of battery per light that will last up to 40 hours on the flashing mode. Since the foundation of Ass Savers in 2011, we've been relentlessly working on delivering innovative, functioning and good looking, easy to fit mudguards.Despite all of this, there is a limit, of course, as to how effective a mudguard of this nature will be in keeping you completely dry. It looks minimalist (it weighs only 72g, or 64g for the Road version), but by harnessing the principal of 'tangential coverage', the level of rear-end protection is impressive.

The clamp once synched up doesn’t move at all and there’s lots of adjustment for the thinnest and fattest stays. The glassfiber reinforced wishbone holder is both flexible and tough and the rubber straps are virtually indestructible. The mudguard section clips onto the wishbone mount, via three attachment points: one on either side of the 'guard and by choosing one of three holes in the middle. The Win Wing attaches in seconds to be easily transferable between bikes and can be set for an amount of tyre clearance that works for you and your bike. I thought the best way to prove this one way or the other was to mount my camera on my seat post looking back at the Win Wing and ride through quite a lot of mud.Your feet are still fully exposed, compared to a set of full-coverage mudguards, and there's nothing in the way of coverage for riders following you. I can’t say anything negative about this - it’s a piece of engineering I wish had been made a lot earlier. I am not claiming to fully understand the physics of the way water and dirt spray off my back wheel but when Ass Savers said this thing works as well as a full mudguard, the company wasn’t lying. Thanks to it's sophisticated simplicity and careful choice of materials, the Win-Wing is virtually indestructible.

The Win Wing comes as a two-part system: a molded plastic “Wishbone” that attaches to the seat stays using pre-installed rubber straps and a polypropylene fender that attaches to it. No matter the terrain, on-road or off, the Win Wing won’t rattle or jam, and with only 72g, you won’t even notice it’s there. John has been writing about bikes and cycling for over 30 years since discovering that people were mug enough to pay him for it rather than expecting him to do an honest day's work. With winter nearly behind me and the ensuing spring shoulder season ahead, having a readily-available mudguard to turn to feels like a win, mostly. With this in mind, the Win Wing is intended to be mounted very close to the tire and angled up (there are three center holes on each blade to aid in achieving this angle). Its unique design means you can run it on frames that are too tight for ordinary fenders and with all types (and sizes) of saddle bags. The new Sweden-made Ass Savers Win Wing is an ultralight clip-on mudguard that’s unlike any others we’ve seen.
